EarlyWire, by Sean Scott. Last updated October 8, 2026.
EarlyWire runs on your device. It has no server of its own and no account with us. We don't collect, store, sell or share your information, and the app has no ads, analytics or tracking.
Your settings, the briefs the app builds, its activity log, and any keys or sign-ins you add are stored only on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, in the app's private storage and the system Keychain. Deleting the app deletes them.
Only if you turn on emailing a brief, you sign in with Google and allow one permission: send email on your behalf (Gmail "send"). The app uses it only to send the brief you asked for, to the addresses you listed, from your own Gmail. It cannot read, search or delete your mail. The sign-in token is kept in your device's Keychain and is sent only to Google. You can remove it any time with Sign Out in the app, or at myaccount.google.com/permissions. EarlyWire's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If you add your own Anthropic API key, the app sends the headlines, snippets and article text it picked to Anthropic's Claude to choose and summarize items. Your key is stored in your Keychain and goes only to Anthropic, under Anthropic's privacy policy and your own agreement with them. Without a key, nothing is sent to Anthropic, and any model help comes from Apple's on-device model, which does not leave your device.
Reminders, widgets, Siri and Shortcuts, and the read-aloud voice all work on your device. If you turn on voice commands for Listen, speech recognition happens on the device.
EarlyWire is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Questions: seanmscott@hotmail.com.
